A complete power blackout hit the whole of Sudan Tuesday, said the National Electricity Network Control Centre.

"A full shutdown of the network occurred at 9:12 pm local time," the center said in a statement Tuesday.

Operations were underway to restore the network and connect the power generating stations, it said, adding that power would gradually be restored.

It was the third time that a complete power outage has hit all states in Sudan since the start of the year, following similar power blackouts on Jan 10 and 21.
