CEMS to discuss 5 main axes regarding future of emergency, crisis management

ABU DHABI, 8th May, 2023 (WAM) — Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser, the Crisis and Emergency Management Summit (CEMS) 2023 will take place tomorrow. The summit, organised by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), will focus on five main axes and involve many sessions and workshops. It will see the participation of more than 20 senior officials from national, regional and international entities concerned with security, emergencies and crises management, as well as various experts and specialists from over 11 countries who possess practical and realistic experiences and academic expertise in crisis and disaster management and crisis recovery. The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reviews the summit’s main axes, with the first focusing on – Comprehensive and Integrated Approach to Non-Traditional Emergency and Crisis Management. – Preparedness for Unexpected Crisis – Preparing the next generation of leaders to respond to emergencies and crises. – Globalisation of preparedness and response to emergencies and crises. – Society is a key partner in the success of emergency and crisis management The summit also discusses the mechanisms and future of international emergency, crisis and disaster management in light of increasing threats and risks. The summit is a global platform for promoting partnerships and international cooperation and exchanging experiences in managing emergencies, crises and disasters, as well as discussing the most significant global challenges and trends. Additionally, it will highlight the importance of anticipating and predicting future risks and developments to enhance the global response to cross-border emergencies and crises. The summit’s main messages includes adopting a comprehensive and integrated approach to non-traditional emergency and crisis management, which the UAE follows as an international model and ensure readiness for unexpected crises. It prepares the next generation of leaders to deal with emergencies and crises professionally and effectively. The summit aims to anticipate the future of managing emergencies and crises around the world in light of increasing threats and risks and areas that benefit from emerging technologies that rely on artificial intelligence (AI) to predict risks, disasters and crises to mitigate their effects and consequences. The list of keynote speakers will include leaders, academics, legislators and senior officials from national, regional and international bodies concerned with security, emergencies, and crisis management. The summit’s partners are eight national and international institutions with national and international significance, expertise and capacities. NCEMA will bring together leaders, academics and scientists specialising in the field of emergencies, crises and disasters from around the world to enhance the readiness of the emergency and crisis system, unify global efforts in the sector, and discuss the future of emergency and crisis management, in light of growing global threats and risks.
