Bor police arrest 10 suspected drug dealers

The police in Bor town, Jonglei state, have arrested 10 youths found in possession of illicit drugs in an ongoing crackdown in parts of the town.

The state police spokesperson, Major Majak Daniel Tuor, told Radio Tamazuj that the suspects were arrested after a tip-off over the weekend.

“The joint operation launched a crackdown targeting criminals dealing in illicit drugs last week. About 10 of them have been arrested, “he said. “Yesterday we completed the investigations and forwarded the case to the court for trial.”

Mary Aluel, a Bor resident, welcomed the crackdown and called on security forces to continue with the operation.

“As a resident, I am happy with the arrest. Bor has been quiet for some time. I am happy that they have been arrested before they could cause violence,” she said.

The court clerk declined to comment while the High Court Judge could not be reached.
