AVPN Global Conference a vital platform for rallying efforts, building partnerships: Minister of Indonesia

ABU DHABI: Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy and Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency of Indonesia, emphasised the importance of the AVPN Global Conference held in Abu Dhabi as a vital platform for rallying efforts and building partnerships to enhance comprehensive development across Asia.

In his remarks to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the first day of the conference, he noted his participation in the conference since its inception in Singapore with around 200 attendees. He highlighted Abu Dhabi’s efforts to elevate the conference’s scale with over 1500 investors, philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, policymakers, and government leaders.

The Minister noted the significant number of Indonesian residents in the UAE (around 100,000) and expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The UAE and Indonesia signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in July 2022,
aiming to significantly increase bilateral trade. This ambitious agreement aims to raise annual trade from $3 billion in 2021 to over $10 billion within five years. Key aspects of the CEPA include reducing or eliminating tariffs on various goods and services, fostering new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
