300 patients to undergo eye surgery in Bor town

At least 300 patients suffering from eye complications will undergo eye surgeries in Bor town of Jonglei State next week, a US-based organization said.

The eye check-up camp will run for a week at Bor's Memorial Christian Hospital. The free surgery campaign is sponsored by the US-based organization Partners in Compassionate Care (PCC).

Deng Ajak Jongkuch, the PCC's executive director, told Radio Tamazuj Monday that they will conduct 300 free surgeries to cataract and trachoma patients from 18 to 22 March.

He called upon citizens seeking eye treatment to report to Memorial Christian Hospital in order to benefit from the trachoma and cataract campaign.

Jongkuch pointed out that they embarked on eye surgeries because most humanitarian agencies operating in the country focus on emergency needs only.

He said that they will lobby for funds to extend their services to the other areas.
