2 people slain, 150 goats raided in Magwi County

Two people were slain and one person is missing after unknown gunmen attacked the Mugali area of Eastern Equatoria’s Magwi County on Friday, officials say.

Major David Kasmiro, the police inspector at Nimule Town Council told Radio Tamazuj that the bodies of Kasirio Moses, 39, and Andruga William,35, were discovered thrown in a pit latrine after they are slain on Sunday morning.

“Armed criminals came to Mugali, they raided 150 goats and they kidnapped two people. They tied these two men and beat them with sticks and slaughtered them with knives. Until yesterday we thought that these two were lost but in the morning their bodies were found,” Kasmiro said.

He urged the community to provide any information regarding the raid saying the area remains tense.

Alira William, Nimule Payam chief, confirmed that the bodies were taken to Nimule Hospital while one person remains missing.

“One is still missing we don’t know his whereabouts whether they killed him or threw him in the river. The one kidnapped is called Amoko Abraham, 36. We need the government to protect us,” Chief William said.

Maj. Akol Amet Amet, the SSPDF commander in Nimule says forces have been dispatched to follow the perpetrators.
